A few weeks ago, I saw my friend Amber make these fun shirts and I knew I had to ask her to share how to make your own galaxy shirts! These are out of this world and so fun to make with the kids!

Cardboard or cardstock the size of the shirt. You could also use foam poster board

Spray bottle filled 2/3 water 1/3 bleach (do not just use bleach it will eat the fibers of the shirt)

Galaxy colored paints- blues, greens, purples, or any other color you want in your galaxy

Old toothbrush or soft bristled brush

Optional: glitter paint and glow in the dark paint latex glove

Step 1: Put a piece of carboard or thick cardstock inside the shirt. This helps to keep the paint from bleeding through to the other side.

Step 2: Gather the shirt and twist slightly to make a galaxy effect.

Step 3: Spray lightly with the bleach water. Letting it mist the shirt mostly but a few larger drops here or there.

Step 4: Let the shirt dry a little bit, remove the carboard or paper, and throw in the washer on a quick cycle and dry.

Step 5: Insert the cardboard or cardstock and lay the shirt out flat.

Step 6: Pick your first color and pour a small amount on the towel or rag. Rub the color into the shirt. The pressure you use to rub will affect the intensity of the color. If you rub lightly the color will be brighter if you rub a lot the color will blend into the shirt. It will not vanish but become a darker hue. You can do multiple layers if you want the color brighter. Use this color in a few areas.

Step 7. Work your way around the whole shirt with multiple colors.

Step 8: If you are using glitter this is where you would dab glitter. You could also dab glow in the dark here or save it for Step 9.

Step 9: Put white paint on the tooth brush and run your thumb across the bristles making specks or flecks on the shirt. I did this with the white, glitter, and glow in the dark.

Step 10: Let the shirt air dry, flip inside out, wash and dry.

The colors will be dull after you wash and dry but your shirt will be amazing. It is really hard to mess up this shirt.

What a fun project to do with the kids! It would especially be fun to make this weekend to wear for Monday if youre going to be seeing the Solar Eclipse! Huge thanks to my friend Amber for sharing this here!
